About the Project

electricganesha is a real-time digital shrine and interactive instrument that explores the intersection of sacred geometry, generative sound, and modern GPU computing. By extracting and deterministically sampling the surface of a 3D Ganesha model, the piece breathes life into 60,000 ethereal, stippled particles that react fluidly to touch, drag gestures, and audio resonance. Rather than playing canned audio samples, the application houses a complete generative Web Audio synthesizer designed around North Indian classical music theory. Dragging across different regions of the sculpture plays melodic contours and ornaments (meend / glides) grounded in Raga Yaman, using custom ratio-based just intonation rather than standard Western equal temperament. Trilinear spatial noise guides the phrasing, turning physical navigation of the 3D model into an intuitive musical performance.
